‘The Ice Twins’ book review.

*This if my first ever book review that I have posted online. I’m not a professional writer but I hope you enjoy the review. Let me know if you have read ‘The Ice Twins’ and if so, what you think about the book.*

The Ice Twins – S.K Tremayne

They say ‘Never judge a book by it’s cover’, however the cover of ‘The Ice Twins’ is naturally what drew me to this book. From the first moment I picked this book up, I was so excited to find out all the secrets this story had to hold.

‘The Ice Twins’ is a thrilling story about identical twins, one dead, one alive. But which twin survived the tragic incident that turned the life of the Moorcrofts upside down? Which twin has been left without her other half, her soulmate, her sister?

It took me just over 24 hours to finish reading ‘The Ice Twins’. The story was absolutely gripping and I was teased with mystery and secrets with every turn of the page. This book was almost impossible to put down, ‘just one more chapter’ turned into 7 more chapters. When I left the house for a couple of hours to see friends, I found myself excited to get home and finish the story.

The way this book was written was sharp and abrupt, which really helped set the tone and atmosphere of the story, giving a real edgy feel to what I was reading. I liked how the story was told from two POV’s, one being Sarah Moorcroft, the grieving mother, the other being Angus Moorcroft, the secret bearing father. Hearing different sides to the story really added to the mystery, as each parent was hiding something from the other, dealing with the death of their daughter in different ways. I thought the writer did a great job of bringing each character to life, giving them indepth personalities and really letting us into their lives. I felt I could really connect to these characters and form strong opinions of each personality. I found myself feeling sympathetic towards characters, and strongly disliking others.

The setting of the story is one of the greatest aspects to this book, an isolated island with nothing but loneliness on the menu, it really sets the creepy, chilling atmosphere with cold and eerie vibes spilling from the pages.

This book is the perfect thriller and I can safely say it is one of the best books that I have ever read. There are twists and turns on every page, and whilst on page 124 I found myself making a chilling prediction of where this story would take me, I found out although I was close to the truth, I also couldn’t of been further from it. This book is unpredictable, and will keep you hanging on every word until the puzzle is unraveled and the secrets of the Moorcrofts are revealed.

I would definitely reccommend this book to anyone who loves a thriller. If you’re looking for a gripping story, to keep you on the edge of your seat then this is definitely the book for you. I would give this book 5 stars out of 5, I honestly couldn’t fault it. I enjoyed it so much and I will definitely be reading this again. This book is a must read.

 

Winning streaks and feeling happy 💕😋

Evening everybody 💕 Since I spent last week writing up posts about what I had eaten each day, it feels like it has been ages since I wrote a diary style post. Yesterday I had a really good day and I felt very happy with life, so I wanted to share with you everything from my day yesterday.

I had a rather rude awakening to start the day, as the builders outside were so LOUD. Do these builders not know I have dreams to dream? 😂😂 I woke up at half 8 which in fairness is an average time for people to wake up, but for me it’s really quite early. I was so tired but I couldn’t get back to sleep no matter how hard I tried, so I just laid in bed playing on my phone.
Eventually, after my 3G data ran out, I decided to hop out of bed and do something with my day. I started writing up a blog post which should hopefully be up soon, it’s a bit of a long one and it needs some thought going into it so I’ll probably have it finished by Friday. I then started reading a book which I bought a couple of weeks ago, ‘The Ice Twins’. I have been excited to start reading this book ever since I bought it and I was not dissapointed. 24 hours later and I have finished the story. It was absolutely amazing 👏🏼 I would definitely reccommend this book to other people, I’ve told my mum that she has to read it too. I can’t wait to see what she thinks of the story. This book was so gripping I could not stop reading it. I am going to do a seperate book review about it so I won’t go into too much detail here, however I will say it was one of the best books I have read in a long time.

I spent most of my day reading and then in the evening I met up with the girls for a bingo session. It was our first bingo sesh of the year and it was an eventful one. I had such a laugh with the girls and it was so nice to spend time with them all. It made me feel so happy inside ☺️. We haven’t been to bingo in ages so it was really nice to be back, I have missed it! Daisy finally got her Christmas presents, Emily and I got her a joint present and I bought them along with me yesterday, exactly one month after Christmas day 😋We got her a ‘Shrek’ colouring book, because she loves Shrek. We also got her alcohol, chocolates and a ‘celebrity mask’ book for the banter, it’s so funny! I hope she wears one of the masks out to Pinks next time we go, there is a Jay-Z mask in the book so Daisy said she could wear it and be Dai-Z. I love it. Then the bingo games started and we were all enjoying ourselves, when out of the blue Chantal mimicked the lady calling out the numbers. It was so unexpected and funny that we burst into giggles, leading the lady sitting near us to get into a stress because we were being too noisy. She was not happy. The lady calling the numbers out had to make an annoucement telling everyone to keep the noise down. Hahaha. I can’t believe we got told off at Bingo 😂 It just made me want to laugh even more to be honest, but I managed to calm myself down and stop laughing.

There’s always a break during bingo, so when Chantal went outside for a cigarette I went with her to get signal on my phone. This was possibly the best decision I could make, as I only went and tripped up the stairs, falling flat on my face. It was hilarious, I could’t stop laughing. It felt like one giggly thing after the other and it made me laugh so much. I absolutely love laughing so this was just perfect. Then it was back to bingo. During the second lot of games, I won £10! I was so excited that I made Emily jump because I shouted so loudly. Not as loudly as the next lot of winners though… The winners who won £5000! Yep, somebody hit the jackpot and they won £5000. They shouted so loudly, everyone started clapping and I had no idea why at first, then I realised what had happened. This lucky woman was so excited she had to be taken outside to calm down, bless her. She must be over the moon, I bet she’s still buzzing now. Imagine going out for a casual game of bingo, for a bit of fun and frolics, and then winning the jackpot!! If I won £5000 I would definitely be on the first plane to Spain (Maybe not Spain, but it rhymed)! Bingo was definitely eventful last night and so much fun, the girls and I had lot’s of giggles and there always seemed to be something funny or exciting going on. I had a great time and I really felt so happy to be spending time with my besties 💕

Dad picked me up after Bingo and we went to the pub. I was clearly on a winning streak as I won £3 on the fruit machine. Yay! So that’s £13 to go towards a Mac lipstick when I go shopping on Thursday. I really want to get Mac ‘Stone’ lipstick, people come in and ask me about it all the time at work so I really want to try it for myself. Mac lipsticks are great.

When I got home, I started reading more of ‘The Ice Twins’ and I ended up reading until 12:30. I could of carried on reading until I finished the book but I could barely keep my eyes open.

What I eat in a week / day 6 – Comfort eating 🌽🍫

Hi guys 💕 I’m really sorry that I didn’t post yesterday, the day took a turn for the worse and I was so unhappy, I couldn’t bring myself to blog. I wish I hadn’t missed yesterday’s post but these things happen and I know for next time to push through my emotions and write if I say I’m going to. 😊 Everything’s a lesson learnt! I actually had a fairly healthy day yesterday until the evening time, when everything went wrong and I thought whatever, I want a maccies to cheer me up. I ended up having two cheeseburgers, medium fries and a coke. Go hard or go home 😜 Now let’s get back to today 😎

Breakfast

Woah guys, major shocker here. I had weetabix for breakfast. Why am I so predictable? 😂

Lunch

Today I had work, so it was a packed lunch for me again and I had a chicken sandwich with wholemeal bread, so quite a light lunch. I am really enjoying having wholemeal bread at the moment, it just seems so much healthier. I don’t know all the benefits of wholemeal bread but as far as I’m aware, it is better for us than white bread.

Dinner

Tonight mum cooked us a cottage pie, so mince, mash potato, carrots, broccoli and sweetcorn. Lots of nutrients for me ☺️ Sweetcorn is my favourite vegetable, it’s so yummy and easy to eat! I love mash potato and gravy, so this is the perfect dinner for me. It’s healthy but still tasty.

Snacks

I have had lot’s of snacks today, including two bags of mini cheddars and a packet of cheese and onion crisps. I also had a bar of dairy milk. I wish I hadn’t of eaten so many snacks but honestly, things aren’t great right now so I just decided to have whatever I want and not worry about it. I quite literally have enough on my plate right now, without worrying about what I’m eating too! Get it, plate, food… Yeah 😂

Drinks

Of course I had water today, but I should have drunk more. I had one bottle and a couple of glasses, not enough! I had a glass of milk to wash down my chocolate and then a Koppaburg this evening which my dad bought me as a treat. What a QT.

In fairness my main meals have been pretty healthy today, it’s just the snacks that have let me down. Hopefully tomorrow I will be healthier ☺️

What I eat in a week / day 4 – A not so healthy day🙊🍇🧀

Hello everybody! 😊 How are you? Day 4 of what I eat in a week and oh my goodness, I have been sooo naughty today and I don’t feel good about it at all! To be honest the only thing I feel guilty about is a packet of crisps that I had, they always make me feel so gross because they are so greasy! No more greasy crisps!

Breakfast
If you can’t guess what I had for breakfast today then I’m very dissapointed, as per usual I had weetabix! Yummy! I also had some grapes with my breakfast today, so I started the day in a healthy way! 🍇 No doubt I will have weetabix for breakfast again tomorrow but we have run out of grapes so they won’t be included, definitely need to get some more asap!

Lunch
Today I went out for lunch with my mum and Nan, we went to Costa! I love Costa! 😍 I had a medium hot chocolate with marshmallows and whipped cream, delicious. I’m dreaming of those marshmallows now, they were so tasty. I also had a mozzarella, tomato and bazil panini. So good. I wish I bought two, I love a panini!

Dinner
For dinner tonight we had a casserole: beef, mash, carrot, yorkshire puddings and gravy. This was nice, I love the beef! It tasted so good, I wish we had some sweetcorn with it too so next time we have casserole I’ll include some sweetcorn! I’m glad we had some carrot, it’s so nice! I really hope it’s true that carrots help with vision because I could definitely use some of that visual aid 😂 Carrots are also supposed to be good for the teeth and the minerals in a carrot can prevent tooth damage. It seems that carrots are really good for us so I’m going to snack on one or two tomorrow 😍

Snacks
I had two bags of crisps today, one bag of mini cheddars which I love and then another bag of salt and vinegar mccoys! They were nasty and I regretted eating them straight away, they’re just so greasy and it makes me feel horrible! I only ate them out of habit really, I was at the pub and I like to have something to nibble on whilst there but next time I won’t bother 😂 I’ve also had a couple of cheeky wine gums, they are too good to resist!

Drinks
Today I’ve drunk some water of course, you can’t go a day without water! Obviously I had my hot chocolate with my lunch, which was soooo good!
At the pub I had some orange juice! It’s just such an easy way to boost up the fruit intake! Rather than getting a coke, I now like to get an orange juice instead!

Okay so I have been quite unhealthy today but it’s not the end of the world, I’m getting back on that healthy life tomorrow and I can’t wait! 💃🏻

What I eat in a week / day 3. Dinner at Spoons 🍊

Hello everybody! I just finished writing this blog post, pressed one button and bam! It was gone 😫 So annoying. Meh, guess I’ll just rewrite it! So today hasn’t been the healthiest of days but I’m not too fussed because atleast I’m doing what makes me happy and I’m not depriving myself of anything. It’s important to not feel guilty when treating yourself ☺️

Breakfast

As per usual, I had weetabix for breakfast. I had work today and weetabix is so quick and easy to make, and also so yummy. I like to have cereal in the morning becauze it’s so refreshing!

Lunch

I took lunch with me today to work, which I think is the best way! It’s cheaper and healthier to take food with you. Whenever I went into work without a packed lunch I would always end up buying McDonalds, costing me around a fiver each time, obviously too much maccies isn’t good for my health either 😭 I wish it was! Today I made two chicken and cucumber sandwiches (4 slices of bread), the bread was wholemeal and to be honest, I actually don’t mind the taste difference between white and brown bread. For the sake of being healthy, I am more than happy to switch to wholemeal.

Dinner

I went to a local wetherspoons for dinner tonight with my friend Emily, and we both got an all day breakfast. We are twins! 👭The meal includes: sausages, bacon, 2 eggs and chips. You can also get beans with it but I’m not a fan of beans.. Bean there, done that… 😭 Hahahaha. Obviously this wasn’t the healthiest of dinners but if I’m out with my friend I want to have something which I know I’ll really enjoy and the all day breakfast is always a winner. There also didn’t seem to be many healthy options on the menu but maybe I just hadn’t looked properly!

Snacks

I snacked a lot today! With my lunch I had a packet of mini cheddars, they are so tasty and I love mini cheddars as they seem to be less greasy than a standard crisp.

I also bought a £1 bag of wine gums and a £1 bag of mini eggs when I was out with Em, but I didn’t eat them all! I swear the mini eggs were smaller today and have a slightly different taste, I was dissapointed 😒

Drinks

Of course I drank lots of water today, but I also spiced up my life and had some orange juice! WILD! I thought the orange juice would be good to go with my meal since it counts as 1 of my 5 a day, and I’ve only had 2 today 😱 Orange juice is definitely my favourite juice, it’s so tasty! We need to get some at home 🍊

So as you can see today hasn’t been my healthiest day but I’ve enjoyed myself and that’s what truley matters. I had a really fun evening out with Emily and it was nice to treat myself and have a ‘naughty’ meal!

What I eat in a week / day 2 🌽🧀

Hello everybody! How are you all doing today? It’s day two of ‘What I eat in a week’ and it’s been a fairly healthy day, with a cheeky snack after dinner!

Breakfast

For breakfast, I had weetabix again! I love it so much, it’s so yummy! I still have a sore throat so again, it was really soothing! I didn’t feel like having any fruit with my breakfast today, so it was just the weetabix on it’s own!

Lunch

For lunch again it was the same as yesterday, I had tomato soup! It was the healthiest food I had at home for lunch today, without going to the shops and buying something else! I was feeling hungry shortly after eating the soup, so it’s definitely not filling enough to have on it’s own! I think next time I have soup I will have it with wholemeal bread. P.s I am using the same soup picture as yesterday, as today it did not look nice enough for a picture 🙈

Dinner

For dinner I had one of my favourite meals, which is Pasta with smooth tomato sauce, sweetcorn and cheese! YUM! I struggled to eat this a little bit because of my cold, I was finding it really hard to breathe because my nose was blocked but I still ate it all of course, how could I not? It’s delicious! I love cheese and tomato, it’s the perfect combination. After having a google about why sweetcorn can be good for us, I have had an insight into the goodness of carbohydrates and now I feel slightly better about consuming carbs. According to google, one cup of cooked sweetcorn contains 31 grams of carbohydrates. Now I know some say ‘No carbs before marbs’ which is enough to put anyone who is striving for that bikini body off of them, but we actually need at least 130 gram of carbohydrates a day for mental and physical energy! I definitely feel less guilty about eating carbs now thanks to finding this out. Sweetcorn is also a great way to get our daily carb intake, as it is a yummy vegetable so it also goes towards 1 of our 5 a day! Win win!

Snacks

I snacked a few times today, after my soup I ended up feeling really really hungry and I was craving mini cheddars! Instead of cheddars, I decided to have another bowl of weetabix as I thought that may be healthier. To be completely honest, I’m not sure if weetabix are as nutritional as I may think, but surely they are healthier than a bag of cheddars? I will have to look into it!                                                                      I had a banana after dinner, since I didn’t have one with breakfast. I really didn’t enjoy it tonight, I think I’ve gone off banana’s for some reason, it just didn’t taste right today! Maybe I need a banana break 😂🍌 hopefully if I skip a day of eating them, I’ll like them again!                   Now my naughty treat of the day 😏 I had melted chocolate with strawberries! Yum! I really fancied this today after filming my video as my throat was really sore, so I thought it would be quite soothing. Dad bought some strawberries home this evening so I had them with my melted chocolate for dessert! Atleast it included some fruit and I got my 5 a day! I’m going to have this again on Thursday when I watch PLL but I’m going to chop the strawberries up as I enjoy it more that way 😄

Drinks                                                                       Again, the only drink that I consumed today was water! Healthy, healthy, healthy!

So today I think I definitely ate more than yesterday, but everything was still in moderation and I got my 5 a day which is great! I also made sure to treat myself and enjoy my food (despite this blocked nose), which is really important as food is a great gift and should be enjoyed.

Tomorrow I have work and I’m going out to the pub afterwards, so I’m looking forward to tomorrow’s post, it should be fun! Thankyou so so much for reading, let me know what your favourite fruit is in the comments below! 🍌🍎🍇🍓

What I eat in a week / day 1! A very healthy day 😋🍌

Hello everybody! 👋🏼💕 After watching Niomi Smart’s videos, I have felt really inspired to live a healthier lifestyle. Whilst I don’t plan on going Vegan (there is no way on Earth that I would give up my cheese or Chinese takeaways), I would like to start eating more natural foods, lot’s of vegetables and just have a healthier diet in general. I know Niomi uploads lot’s of ‘What I eat in a day’ videos to her youtube channel, so I thought it would be fun to do the same here over on my blog. I am going to do this for the rest of this week, including Sunday which I know is technically next week but hey, what can you do? If you’re interested in seeing what I eat in a day, then carry on reading! 😋I’m really excited for the rest of this week!

Breakfast
For breakfast I had two weetabix with milk and a banana on the side. I was considering having a fruit salad for breakfast today but since I’m feeling under the weather I opted for weetabix instead, as I knew I would enjoy it more! It was so yummy and soft which definitely helped to soothe my sore throat. I also love the part of the weetabix that hasn’t been covered in milk as it has a little crunch to it!
I always like to have a banana for breakfast / with my breakfast as it goes towards one of my five a day, it’s filling and gives me energy for the day ahead! Banana’s are also packed with nutrients and there are many health benefits to eating them! I am no expert and I know google isn’t always the most reliable source, but after looking online, if everything that’s posted is true I have discovered that banana’s are good for lowering blood pressure, making you more alert and aiding digestion. They are just a handful of the health benefits that come with eating banana’s. I will leave a link at the end of this post to the website’s which I got all my information from, so you can have a look yourself and find out more exciting reasons to add banana’s to your fruit bowl!

Lunch
For lunch I had a can of tomato soup, which is definitely a go to dish when I have a cold! Hot soup makes everything better! I noticed this didn’t fill me up that much and I was hungry within a couple of hours of eating this. Normally I would have bread with my soup which would make it more filling but I thought it would be healthier without the bread, I either need to buy some brown bread or find a healthier alternative as I still want to make sure I’m eating enough! I’m still learning what’s best for me! As with the banana’s I had a google of what health benefits I might find when eating tomato soup, I have learnt that tomato soup contains lots of Vitamins, including Vitamins K, A and C! Another interesting piece of information I found is that tomato soup can boost male fertility, and I quote ‘with a can of soup, you can turn sperm into Super Sperm’! Ha, you learn something new everyday! So men if you find you’re having issues in the fertility department, you know what to do, have a can of tomato soup 👌🏼😅

Dinner
For dinner I had rice and vegetables. This wasn’t the most exciting dinner and I watched on enviously as my parents tucked into bangers and mash. So jealous. The rice was really nice (ha, it rhymes) and since I don’t eat plain rice a lot, it was actually quite enjoyable, I just wish I had some sort of pesto sauce and chicken to go with it. Ah well, I know now for next time. As much as I want to live a healthy lifestyle, it’s not healthy to deprive myself of foods I love and I want to enjoy my meals. I have to say thankyou to my dad as he worked really hard to make me a meal suiting my needs. The vegetables that I had with my dinner included carrots, sweetcorn, broccoli and spinach. I had to chop my spinach up as I can only eat it when the taste is disguised, eating a whole leaf like you see in the picture is not appealing to me at all! I know spinach has a lot of nutritional qualities and is really good for you so I wanted to eat as much of it as I could!

Snacks
As I was feeling hungry a couple of hours after lunch, I decided to have some grapes! I love grapes but they’re not something I eat often, down to pure lazyness. I can never be bothered to wash them, but when I do have them I really enjoy the taste! I am not going to be lazy anymore! I had green grapes today, it’s been so long since I’ve had red grapes so I’m honestly not sure if I have a preference. I think grapes are a delicious way to snack and make a healthy alternative to food such as crisps or biscuits (even if there is no crunch)!

Drinks                                                                The only fluid I have drunk today is WATER 🙌🏼 one of the easiest ways to a healthy lifestyle is to drink lots and lots of water!

I have had a really healthy day today with lots of fruit and veg! I am definitely going to have a little treat tomorrow and I’ve already requested one my favourite meal’s for dinner (you’ll have to wait until tomorrow’s post to find out what that is 😉)! My favourite meal today was definitely breakfast, that weetabix was so yummy 🙌🏼
