Amsterdam Day 2. Madame Tussauds, The Sex Museum & More. 🇳🇱🇳🇱

After an amazing first day in Amsterdam exploring and seeing the sights, Emily and I were excited to see what our second day had in store for us. With slightly more of an agenda having pre booked tickets to Madame Tussauds and the Hard Rock Cafe, we knew the day was bound to be a good one.

For breakfast we decided to grab a Starbucks. Being a fussy eater myself and not quite trusting of the Dutch delicacy, this seemed like the safest place to go for food. After filling up on pancakes and hot chocolate we were good to go for a day of excitement and fun, with Madame Tussauds first on our agenda.

This was my first time ever at a Madame Tussauds and I had so much fun. Being that we were in Amsterdam there were obviously quite a few waxworks of people we weren’t sure of. We saw models of Dutch Royalty and Dutch sports stars and there was even a waxwork of Anne Frank, God bless her.

Although there were the odd few models we weren’t sure of there were plenty of ‘people’ we did know, such as Bob Marley, Barack Obama and the one and only Justin Bieber. They had the Biebs down to a T with all his tatts in all the right places, I almost thought it actually was him!

My favourite part was the DJ area which was just the best. There was a fun little stage section with a DJ Booth to pose by and wax works of Tiesto, AfroJack and Dutch trance producer Armin Van Buuren. It would make for the coolest nightclub.

After an hour or two we had seen everything Madame Tussauds had to offer and decided to go for a little stroll around the city. Whilst walking we stumbled upon the Sex Museum, which I’d been told by friends was a must visit.

The museum was not what I was expecting at all. In the nicest way possible, what I was expecting to see was crazy statues of questionable sex toys ect ect and though there were plenty of interesting statues including one of a giant penis, there was so much more than that including some very shocking pictures.

Graphic photographs lined the walls and there was one room completely dedicated to what I can only describe as the most disturbing photos I have ever seen. Now I’m by no means a prude but these photos were shocking. A room certainly not made for the faint hearted, I was fascinated by what I saw but more than happy to leave after a quick look around.

Leaving the museum with minds less pure than they had been when we entered, it was nice to get some fresh air and wander the streets, taking in the beauty of Amsterdam and making sure to get a pretty picture by the canals.

For dinner we had a reservation at the Hard Rock Cafe. Located a short distance away from the hotel we decided to get a tram there and back although it would have only been about 20 minutes each way had we walked.

Me being me, I obviously ordered a cheese burger for my main course. Dessert was vanilla ice cream which I neglected slightly as I was too preoccupied with a cocktail. When dining at the Hard Rock Cafe, cocktails are mandatory.

Once we were finished we had a browse around the gift shop and I bought the cutest pair of guitar earrings.

Then it was time to head back to the hotel and curl up in bed, making sure we both got a good nights sleep in before our next jam packed day in ‘Dam.

  1. That all looks way too fun! I couldn’t help but to giggle at the giant penis structure. I’ve been dying to go to a wax museum they look like so much fun, its crazy how very close to accurate they get to imitating famous people. Love it. You look like you’re a bundle of fun to be around!!
