Reading is one of my favourite hobbies, sometimes when I go shopping I think to myself gosh, I wish I had £1000’s just to spend on books alone. There are so many fantastic stories out there, I want to read them all.
There’s nothing I love more than a good ol’ book haul and it’s been a while since I treated myself. In fact, until now the last book I purchased was Pride and Prejudice, which I bought way back in February! Whaaaat, thats half a year ago!?!? Mad, anyway, I’ve finally made up for it because this month I’ve really gone out and treated myself to plenty of new reading material. YAY!
The first book I treated myself to this month is Meet Me at Beachcomber Bay by one of my all time favourite feel good authors Jill Mansell. Naturally the author of this book is what initially drew me to it, because I love Mansell’s work and it comes as no surprise that this story sounds like the perfect dreamy read. Set in Cornwall, I can tell this story of romance, hidden feelings and secrets is going to make me feel all the feels. I can’t wait to read this.
A Year at the Star and Sixpence by Holly Hepburn is another book which caught my eye this month and described as ‘the perfect book to start the new year’ I might have to wait a few months before reading this. I like to do things properly! This book is about two sisters who inherit a pub in a ‘beautiful country village’, which sounds like the perfect setting for a delightful novel and I expect to feel all warm and fuzzy inside when reading this. Definitely one for those colder winter nights.
The third book I treated myself to is Miss You by Kate Eberle. This is a book I’ve seen quite a lot over my timeline on twitter, so I can only assume it’s a popular one. The Daily Mail describes it as ‘wildy romantic, heart-achingly sad and warmly funny’, so this sounds like a story I’m just going to love. A story about two teens ‘separated by distance and chance’, I fully expect to feel an array of emotions when reading this, from happy to sad. I might even shed a tear, who knows? Time will tell, but I can’t wait to read this.
One of the books I’m most excited to read out of my haul is As Old As Time, A Twisted Tale. A Disney novel based on Beauty and the Beast, but with a dark twist. What if Belle’s mother cursed the Beast? In this story, Belle and the Beast have to take on the task of unravelling the mystery surrounding their families and I couldn’t be more excited to read this. A Disney story with a twist is exactly my cup of tea, it’s going to be an amazing story I’m sure.
Embracing my spiritual side this month I simply had to treat myself to a couple of motivating and inspiring books to boost myself and my positivity. I love a spiritual read and I’m always looking to add to my collection, so I thought it was finally time I bought myself The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho, a book I’ve heard a lot about. One of my friends has read this book and she couldn’t recommend it to me more, described as ‘a fable about following your dream’ I’ve got a feeling about this book. Could it be life changing? Maybe. I can’t wait to find out.
Lastly, the final book in my haul is The Power Of Now by Eckhart Tolle. Another book which has been recommended to me by a law of attraction loving friend, she said this book is amazing and highly worth a read. All about the power of now and the power of living in the moment, I believe this book is really going to change my mind-set, keep me feeling relaxed and never fearful of the future and enable me to find appreciation of every moment I’m living in. ‘In the Now, the present moment, problems do not exist. In the Now, we discover that we are already complete and perfect’ – this is just one quote from the blurb and I already feel inspired just from reading that, so I can only imagine how reading the whole book will make me feel. Bring it on.
Have you read any of these books? If so, which ones, what did you think of them? Let me know in the comments below.
Thank you for reading,
love,
Jennie.

I’ve heard of The Power of Now one of my coworkers recommended it to me too saying “it’s kind of mind blowing good” which I take as a very very good response. I may have to add that to my Sept book reading list!!!
