Weekend Highlights | Wedding Vibes

I’m a tad late with this weeks weekend highlights I know, but I’ve been busy. Monday was an unusual day for me as I actually had to work and the evening was spent with my family, yesterday again was another day of working but today is a day off so I’m finally sat down with TVD on in the background, recapping my bank holiday weekend.

Saturday my family and I drove to Bognor Regis where we would be staying for the weekend for my cousins wedding on the Sunday.

Since we didn’t set off on our journey until later on in the day, we didn’t arrive until around 4/5ish. We checked into The Tudor House B & B which would be our base for the weekend and I was amazed at how gorgeous it was. The grounds of the house were beautiful and the beauty was heightened by the gorgeous sunny weather. Our bedrooms were a dream, totally luxurious with massive comfy beds, fluffy pillows and gorgeous views of the garden and to top it off, the owners were so friendly and welcoming too. I would definitely recommend and if I ever go back to Bognor Regis, this is where I’ll be staying.

Naturally whilst everyone else was unpacking and settling in, I was taking mirror selfies. Can we just take a moment to talk about my gorgeous new velvet crop? The lilac colour is everything.

Selfies done, we headed out for the evening for dinner where we went to a Brewers Fayre on the seafront. Whilst my sister and mum got a full meal, Dad and I opted to just get a couple of starters because we wanted to grab some chip shop chips from the pier afterwards, they’re so much tastier. In the end however I never actually got any chips for myself but I did have a chocolate ice cream instead which was yummy! We then headed to the arcade for games galore and we all had a go on the basketball machines with of course my Dad achieving the highest score out of everyone, I played a game of air hockey with Mum (I won) and Zoë played on the 2p machines. I love these kind of evenings, pier arcades bring me so much joy.

Sunday was wedding day but since we weren’t going to the actual ceremony we had some time to kill in the morning. We had a little browse around the town where I of course bought my compulsory post card and then headed over to the reception venue.

The after wedding meal and reception were being held in a marquee located in the grounds by The Anglesey Arms pub, so whilst we waited for everyone to arrive we sat and had a couple of drinks out in the beer garden. I also made sure to get my required OOTD photos, Mum always doing me the honour of being my photographer.

How gorgeous is my outfit? I’m in love. There will be an outfit of the day post coming so I won’t ramble on too much, but all I can say is uhhh, so pretty.

By 4pm all the guests had arrived with the bride and groom arriving shortly after, we greeted them as they walked through the archway with confetti and cheers.

Then it was time for food and speeches. Menu of the day was hog roast which isn’t really my cup of tea, so the chef kindly offered to make me a veggie burger which was so sweet. I must say it tasted so delicious I’ve been inspired to try more veggie options in the future.

After food and speeches, there was a live band playing music whilst everyone mingled and took more photos. Of course there was the throwing of the bouquet which no, I didn’t catch!

One of the highlights of the day was seeing my Grandparents, I didn’t get any photos on my camera with my Gran but here are some special photos with my Grandad.

Photoshoot over, it was time for the bride and groom to cut the cake. I’m totally gutted I never actually had a piece but in fairness, I’d already had cake for dessert so it’s not like I needed any more.

We then signed the photo board wishing my cousin and her husband all the love and happiness in their future.

With the evening drawing in and all the reception guests arriving, the bride and groom had their first dance to Ed Sheeran’s Perfect, performed by the live band. I can only imagine how happy they must have felt in that moment.

With the party in full swing and everyone getting their dancing shoes on, I was surprised to look across the table to see my dad playing Candy Crush. I couldn’t help but giggle.

You can spot in the above photo the fish and chips on the table. Definitely one of the highlights of the day for me was the unlimited fish and chips van that arrived in the evening, they tasted glorious.

By around 10:30pm my parents, sister and I were exhausted so we decided to make a move, knowing we had a three hour journey back home ahead of us. We said our goodbyes to our loved ones giving my grandparents double the hugs then made our way home.

After a long weekend I felt happy to head to straight to bed when we got back, content after a lovely weekend with my family.

Signing off with a massive congrats to my cousin and her hubby,

I hope everyone enjoyed this post,

thank you all for reading,

love,

Jennie.

  2. I really really really loved your wedding outfit! Super gorgeous. I wish I could attend a wedding like that, we attend Mexican weddings and let me tell you, they’re vastly different lmao. Also, I never got the wedding of my dreams so it makes me a little jealous to see other people’s weddings lol that’s so mean but true but it’s no ones fault but mine, then again I was broke and I was a full time college student.
ANYWAY, I love how close you are to your family. My family has spread out and don’t get to see them often lol. Can’t wait to see more lol 🙂

    1. Thank you lovely! Ah really?? its so funny because to me this type of wedding is just normal! In what way are Mexican weddings different? It’s so amazing how there are so many different types of weddings with different traditions! Oh no that’s such a shame, it’s not mean of you at all to feel that way I totally understand!! Ultimately at least you’re with your love ❤️ And you can always renew your vows if ever you choose so you can get your ultimate wedding goals! Thank you lovely. It’s hard when family are so far, but it means the time you do spend with them is that extra special 😀

      1. They’re different in the sense that they don’t really put much thought into fully decorating the reception. Maybe a few decorations on the bride and grooms table and a table decoration at each table, probably match the table cloths to their color and that’s it. They really really care about the music though, so they’ll spend money on a band and they’ll dance for the rest of the day lol. I mean they do traditional stuff like their first dance but I feel like the dancing is what determines whether people liked the wedding or not lmao. Believe it or not, Mexican parties are often centered on “is there beer/alcohol” and “is the music good?” If not they leave lol.
Yeah, it’s my plan to renew our vows and actually have a better celebration with our family and friends. Mind you, not big, still fairly small and intimate lol.

      2. Ah I see!! I would love that though because I love dancing. There was dancing at this wedding but my parents and sister aren’t really into it so no dancing for me! Oh that would be just lovely, yeah a smaller gathering is good as long as the people you love there.
