I’ll Never Be The Same, If I Don’t Eat Meat Again!

And it’s probably for the best…

Hey guys! I hope you’re well 🙂 and yes, in case you were wondering the title of this post is definitely a play on Katy Perry’s ‘If we ever meet again’ lyrics. I always loved that song!

If you caught my blog post at the beginning of this month ‘4 Ways I’m Detoxifying My Body For A Better State Of Mind’, you will see one of the things I have given up recently is eating meat. I fully believed that by doing this, the state of my mental health would improve. And, I think it did, even if just a little.

I managed to go meat free and live vegetarian for a solid 25 days and whilst I didn’t realise it at the time I can see now based on the past couple of days, what an impact eating meat has on the state of my mind. And it’s not a good one.

Due to circumstances I had to consume meat a couple of days this week as I went to stay with my grandparents who cooked me meat based meals two nights in a row. Now I had told them before I’d gone vegetarian but I’m guessing they must have forgotten or not fully taken in the info. I mean, they do have 17 grandchildren / great grandchildren and my gran has around 11 siblings so to keep up must be tricky 😉 I don’t blame them, and when they told me what they had planned for dinner I just didn’t have the heart to tell them I couldn’t eat that stuff. You know, how can I tell my lovely grandparents I don’t want what they’re making me for dinner, I can’t! Although next time I visit I’m fully going to have to make sure there is someway for me to have a different meal arrangement, because I can never eat meat again.

In these past couple of days, since consuming those meaty foods I have fully noticed my mental state worsen so much and it makes me so sad but I realise this is for the best. I had to consume the meat in order to realise how much of a negative impact it has on me, because I can now see a direct correlation between eating meat and my mental health which is something I never fully realised before, so I’m actually grateful to know this now because going forward I am now more aware of what I’m eating and the foods I’m putting into my body. And although I won’t be turning vegan anytime soon, I am definitely going to start looking into more plant based options for my food. I need good energy tings in my body, nothing else!

To sum it up, peep Isabel Palacios answer to someone asking her why she’s vegan-

I am now ready to live the rest of my life meat free and I’m sooo excited, because I now fully realise how good this is going to be for me!

Has anyone else had these experiences with eating meat / going veggie / vegan? I’d love to know your thoughts so please let me know in the comments below.

Thank you all for reading,

I hope everyone has a wonderful day today,

lots of love,

  1. Okay, I never push not eating meat on anyone- but I resonate with this 100000%. When I stopped eating meat I changed as a person- I became more energized, happier, intuitive, and awake. This was so interesting to read- thanks for sharing, Jennie! xo

    1. I agree, it’s a personal choice and we live in a world where people have grown up with eating meat and it’s normal to most people so I’d never judge, it’s a personal choice! But I’m grateful to hear your views, that’s absolutely amazing! And I think it’s true! You do become more awake, or alternatively I think becoming awake guides you to cutting out meat. Either way, it’s definitely ‘woke’ haha x

    1. Thanks so much gorge! That’s how I feel like, I do hope I can go vegan one day. The thought of eggs right now make me feel sicky but I am still drinking milk and eating cheese! Although I’m definitely going to switch my milk consumption with my cereals to soya. Slow progress but progress nonetheless! Thanks again hun x

  2. I love love love this!! We have cut out red meat successfully but I’m so interested in going fully vegetarian/pescatarian. I love that Instagram screenshot! Such a good explanation. ❤ . I never thought about a connection with a negative mental state, but I'm definitely going to be watching for that now. Thanks for sharing, girl! You're so inspiring!

  3. Thats so great that you’ve realized how different you feel when you eat or don’t eat meat. I haven’t taken the full plunge of cutting it out completely but I have stopped eating it the majority of the time and often opt for pescaterian or vegetarian meals when were out. I love it.
