The Ultimate Book Tag 2019 Edition

Hello my loves and welcome back to another tag. I love doing tags so much and today, I am reanswering my questions to ‘The Ultimate Book Tag’ which I first participated in in July 2016 and I found on the blog, Books with Bite.

I love reading, so this is the perfect tag for me and I really hope Hunida joins in with me on this one because I know she’s an avid book worm too.

Without further ado, let’s skip straight into the questions!

The Ultimate Book Tag

1. Do you get sick while reading in the car?

I do but not so much! Sometimes scrolling through facebook whilst travelling in a car can make me feel so queasy, but whilst driving through Italy I managed to read almost a whole book just on the car ride, and I didn’t feel sick at all (Thank God, I’d have been so bored if I couldn’t read)!

2. Which author’s writing style is completely unique to you and why?

Paulo Coelho! I’ve only actually completed one of his books, The Alchemist and I’m on my second now, The Pilgrimage, but his books are so spiritual they have a way of making me feel so connected, safe and trusting towards the Universe when I read them. They take you on a journey, his books are life changing and I’m so excited to read more.

3. Harry Potter Series or the Twilight Saga? Give 3 points to defend your answer.

Still Harry Potter, obviously! Harry Potter is a timeless classic and loved by everyone, the books are brilliant, SO MUCH HAPPENS, the stories are memorable and hello, magic? Anything that brings a little magic to the world is a yes from me!

4. Do you carry a book bag? If so, what is in it (besides books…)?

No but I often carry a book in my bag! How extra would I look if I carried around a book bag though? So funny!

5. Do you smell your books?

I do not.

6. Books with or without little illustrations?

I like illustrations but to be honest, I don’t pay a whole lot of attention to them. Normally if there’s an illustration in a book I don’t really look at it at all, I kind of skim over it, which is such a shame really because I’m sure the illustrator put a lot of work into their drawings and I guess they are a nice touch really, but for me I can take or leave them.

7. What book did you love while reading but discovered later it wasn’t quality writing?

Still the same answer as before, The Stolen.

8. Do you have any funny stories involving books from your childhood? Please share!

I’m just going to share the same answer from before!

9. What is the thinnest book on your shelf?

Maybe Go Ask Alice. I currently don’t actually have any books on my shelf because I’ve just moved so my books are in bags ready to be organised, but I think it would be this one from memory. Go Ask Alice is a really interesting, thought provoking read, a real life account / diary of a young girl who is a drug addict… based on memory anyway. This is what Wikipedia says!

10. What is the thickest book on your shelf?

Wicked by Jilly Cooper! This book took me forever to read.

11. Do you write as well as read? Do you see yourself in the future as being an author?

Yes and yes. Obviously I write my blog, and I’ve had a couple of book ideas recently, so I would love to be a published author one day. Wish me luck!

12. When did you get into reading?

I’ve loved reading for as long as I can remember, so I’d say I got into reading from the day I first learnt how to read. Books were always on my Christmas list.

13. What is your favorite classic book?

Ooh I really don’t know. I haven’t read too many classics and I’m not really a fan, I’ve read very few. Out of the ones I’ve read, I’d probably say Pride and Prejudice because it’s a romance, but it was a little hard to read because of the old fashioned language / writing.

14. In school was your best subject Language Arts/English?

One of my best, yes! I loved English.

15. If you were given a book as a present that you had read before and hated…what would you do?

I would say thank you very much, because a gift should forever be appreciated and it’s the thought that counts, but after a couple of weeks I’d probably sell it. I would not regift it because I wouldn’t want to personally give someone a book I wouldn’t recommend (obviously) but if someone wanted to buy it off me then that’s fine! Or to be honest I may just give it to them free of charge if they specifically wanted it but I mean, I wouldn’t go out of my way to give it to anyone, I’d probably just sell it to one of those companies that buy your old books actually, then they can deal with it. Wow, what a ramble over a non existent gift haha.

16. What is a lesser known series that you know of that is similar to Harry Potter or the Hunger Games?

Same answer as before, Uglies by Scott Westerfield. I only ever read the first two books in this series but they were so interesting, kind of sci fi and really interesting. I actually wish I finished the whole series now… and also The Northern Lights series by Philip Pullman but I think that series is beyond HP and Hunger Games on an intellectual level… and also I wouldn’t say that was a lesser known series either, just different maybe. But I mean it’s a fantasy novel, so also similar. Again, I’m rambling. But The Northern Lights series is fantastic! Long books though so be prepared!

17. What is your favorite word?

Love. Because love is life, hehe. And maybe also beautiful! To be honest I don’t really have a favourite word, but I have been using the word ‘Stan’ a lot lately. Like I stan the word love, I stan reading, you know what I mean? Like Stan is a fan, so I’m a fan of makeup, I’m a stan of makeup, ok I’m done I’m sure you know what the word Stan means, it’s been around long enough.

18. Are you a nerd, dork, or dweeb? Or all of the above?

None? I wouldn’t describe myself as any of these things really, you tell me!?

19. Vampires or Fairies? Why?

Aw man, if we’re talking books I think I’m going to say fairies, only because I have read and watched so many vampire based series (read Marked, Twilight etc and of course watched The Vampire Diaries and Twilight), whereas fairies I haven’t really experienced. I think I’ve read one fairy based book in my lifetime and I can’t even remember the name of it, so I’d be more interested in a book on fairies which I know nothing about, than a book on vampires which I’ve experienced so much of, I want something new!

20. Shapeshifters or Angels? Why?

Angels, for sure. I’m not really a fan of shapeshifters, I find the whole concept quite confusing… besides Angels are so beautiful, although come to think of it I’ve never read a book which involves angels so I’m not sure what that story would be like. Shapeshifters isn’t something I’ve experienced much in books either but I can imagine there being more of a plot / storyline with them, whereas Angels are just so beautiful. I think for fiction I’d have to go for a book on shapeshifters actually now I’ve thought about it more, but spiritually I can imagine real life books on Angels are amazing (like people’s experiences with Angels, Spirit Guides etc).

21. Spirits or Werewolves? Why?

Spirits! I’m not a werewolf person at all!

22. Zombies or Vampires?

Definitely vampires, just like with werewolves, I do not care for zombies at all.

23. Love Triangle or Forbidden Love?

Can I say both? I love anything lovey dovey / romantic and of course both of these plot lines would have that element so I’mma say both! Because they can both be equally as good!

24. AND FINALLY: Full on romance books or action-packed with a few love scenes mixed in?

Still full on romance hehe, I LOVE romance novels!

Now all I wanna do is go and read more books. I think I’ll be reading lots this coming week. If you have any book recommendations for me please let me know in the comments below, I need some good fiction recommendations because I’ve been reading so much non fiction lately! But any book you’d recommend I’d love to know!

What’s your favourite book of all time? Please let me know in the comments below.

As always thank you so much for reading, I hope you enjoyed this tag.

Lots of love,

Jennie

  2. Love this tag!! How can people even compare Harry Potter books to Twilight, lol! Also I used to never get sick in the car as a kid, but I do now when I try to concentrate on something. It’s so weird. I didn’t know until once Joshua blindfolded me for a birthday surprise and I felt sick almost immediately. You know you’re getting old when… lol 😉 Oh and good luck on writing a book!! Writing stories is my fave! ❤ You got this!

    1. YAY! So excited for you to answer, my fellow book lover! Nooo, I think you just have to find that book you can’t put down and then you’ll be back into it in no time.

Hahahah it’s so funny isn’t it, like the point of a library is that the books are free but hey, I guess it shows initiative right?

Omg that’s so exciting you also read that book! I always find it exciting when someone else has read a book I have that isn’t the typical famous ones (Harry Potter, the classics like Pride and Prejudice etc), so amazing! You would really enjoy the Uglies Hunida, I only read the first two books in the series but they were so interesting!! I should really finish the series LOL. The Northern Lights is great – time consuming as they are big books, but great all the same.

Eeek thanks so much honey!!! I hope so ❤
