Oh hey, my Huns. How you doin’?
For the past week or so, I have been completely hooked on the Netflix show Jane The Virgin. To use the popular phrase, I have been binge watching and I can’t get enough. I’ve watched two episodes today already, and whilst I’d have loved to have binged more, I figured I actually best be productive and write some blog posts. Don’t get me wrong, I’m all for a lazy day and chill out session, but being that there’s 5 seasons of Jane The Virgin and I am just close to finishing the first, if I don’t get my butt into action then well, it could be a while before I publish any blog posts, so here I am. LOL.
However, despite the fact I’m actually being productive right now, this is kind of the perfect post for anyone who is craving those chill out days, and a good show to binge watch.
I am definitely a Netflix / TV show fan, I love watching a good show, and whilst I haven’t ‘completed Netflix’, I’ve definitely watched my fair share of shows (okay maybe like 1%) so today I thought I’d share with you some of my top recommendations of what to watch, in case you’re looking for some new shows to get stuck into.
So without further ado,
enjoy, and happy bingeing!
*Potential Spoiler Alerts throughout*
Jane The Virgin
As I mentioned above, I’ve been watching Jane The Virgin for a good couple of weeks now and I’ve really been bingeing more and more lately. I just have to know what happens next. When I first decided to watch this show I wasn’t expecting a lot at all, but oh how I am so glad I decided to stick this one on. JTV is a fun show which follows the life of Jane, who although is a virgin (having vowed not to have sex until marriage), finds herself pregnant after accidentally being inseminated. Oops! This is such an entertaining, enjoyable show with humour, romance, drama and all the juicy fun stuff you’d want from a good binge worthy show. It’s just the best. And an added bonus is that there’s also lots of Spanish speaking (with subtitles) in the show, so it’s great for anyone who may be wanting to brush up on their Spanish speaking skills (aka me).
Tiger King
If you’re looking for real, crazy, unbelievable, real life crime drama, then look no further than Tiger King, if you haven’t already seen it that is because I mean, who hasn’t? Everyone’s talking about Tiger King. Tiger King is a documentary all about the now, should I say ‘household name’, Joe Exotic, aka the Tiger King. I’ve honestly no idea where to start when describing this show, but it’s essentially about the big cat ‘industry’, Joe’s ownership of them oh, and there’s a lot of beef between himself and Carole Baskin, his biggest rival who wants to get him shut down. It’s completely bizarre, you have to see it to believe it though really, I can’t quite believe it because it’s so freakin’ bonkers.
Whilst I originally wasn’t going to watch this show because I thought it would be too sad due to the subject of animal abuse, the show mostly centred around Joe. It was disgusting and horrible a lot of the times, but not in a graphic way. TRIGGER WARNING – Whilst the show made me sad because of how the animals were treated, and the learning of how there are more tigers in captivity than there are in the wild (I did have to fact check this with Google because I couldn’t remember the exact words from the show), which is just heartbreaking, overall the show wasn’t too graphic for me to be able to handle and in my eyes, it was more focused on the drama and chaos that is Joe Exotic himself.
Gossip Girl
and who am I? That’s a secret I’ll never tell, xoxo, Gossip Girl.
What a classic show! Gossip Girl follows the lives of wealthy New Yorkers (although some not so rich) as they go about their day to day lives and shenanigans. Filled with scandal, drama, gossip (duh) and passion, this show is a fun, easy watch to take your mind away from the outside world, immersing yourself in everything NYC.
Gossip Girl is one of my favourite TV shows and whilst I haven’t watched it in so long, it’s definitely going back on my ‘to watch’ list soon.
The Good Place
The Good Place is such a unique, funny and enjoyable show which follows the life of Eleanor Shellstrop as she attempts to navigate the after life, finding herself to be in ‘The Good Place’ where she has earned her spot after being a wonderful human on Earth. I love this show because it’s humourful and the whole concept behind it is so clever, individual and unique. I’ve never seen a show like this before. There are cool plot twists, right from the get go, and the character development in this show is beautiful, some of the best I have ever seen.
Whilst I will admit that sometimes the show can feel like it drags on a little, in the end it ties up together beautifully (SPOILER ALERT– and very emotionally, but still wonderfully done), and it’s definitely worth persevering with and seeing the slower parts through.
I will give a trigger warning & a potential spoiler alert again, being that the show is about the after life some may find it emotional (especially the final episode, I balled my eyes out), however it’s really just a funny, feel good, smart and insightful show which is really like nothing you will have experienced before.
If I was rating these TV shows (which I’m not), I’d give The Good Place a 9/10, because it’s so wonderfully done, it’s fantastic.
The Vampire Diaries
Ooh, vampires. This show is one of my favourites, and whilst it’s so freaking emotional, it’s such a binge worthy show. Naturally, The Vampire Diaries is about well, vampires, and it’s just so great! I love the characters and they all have amazing story lines, experiencing such drama and growth and intense situations, there is so much going on though it is so freaking emotional. I probably cried a river of tears when watching this show but oh there is so much romance, what’s not to love? The relationships in this show are so intense and passionate, if you love a good bit of romance, this ones for you.
Stranger Things
I started watching Stranger Things with my Mum last year but we couldn’t really get into it however after a couple of months, along with my Dad, we decided to start again and this time, hurrah, it was so enjoyable. I obviously wasn’t in the mood the first time I watched, but the second time around I was hooked. Described on IMDB as a ‘drama, fantasy and horror’, ST is a a cool, interesting and unique show which will definitely have you on the edge of your seat, and eager to watch that next episode as soon as the previous one has finished, making it the perfect show to binge.
I’m looking forward to Season 4.
Dead To Me
Dead To Me is a drama described on Google as a ‘dark comedy’, about two women who become friends at a grief support group. It’s full of secrets, and whilst I would definitely give a trigger warning because it can be quite dark and touch on (and feature) hard, emotional and dark topics, it’s so binge worthy and exciting to watch.
Season 2 is coming back on the 8th May and I’m absolutely buzzing to see more of the story unfold. Not long to go!
You
You is an absolute drama following Joe the stalker (what is it about Joe’s?) as he obsesses over his love interest(s). This is quite a graphic show (as I remember season 2 was especially gory) so if you’re not into all that then LOOK away (I had to hide behind my hands a couple of times at least LOL), but this show is completely binge worthy as you just have to know what happens next and see how it plays out. You is described on IMDB as a ‘crime, drama and romance’ show and whilst I agree with the crime and drama aspect, I can not call this a romance show. LOL. Whilst there are romantic relationships going on in the show (there’d probably be no show if there wasn’t because that’s the whole point), as a viewer watching I would not describe them as romantic. I mean, Joe’s Mrs might think she’s in a romantic relationship but my girl, run.
I’ve seen both Seasons of You so far and there’s a third one coming, I loved the plot twists in Season 2 and the way it was left, well, I’m really intrigued to see what Season 3 brings and I just hope it’s going to have more plot twists and surprises. I don’t think this show would do too well to have too many Seasons as it could become repetitive but who knows what the writers will do? I’m looking forward to seeing where it leads next…
Dare Me
Dare Me follows a squad of cheerleaders and their coach on their day to day lives (thanks Wikipedia) as they navigate friendships, rivalry, relationships and drama drama drama. It’s definitely got a darker side to it, whilst it appears as a light hearted watch to begin with, it definitely takes a darker turn as the episodes go on and (SPOIlER ALERT) the plot twist at the end will definitely leave you wanting to know what happens next.
When’s season 2?
Which of these Netflix shows have you watched?
What are you currently watching at the moment?
What do you recommend I binge watch on Netflix next?
Please do let me know all your thoughts in the comments below, and I’ll be back soon with more blog posts and definitely some movie recommendations!!!
Thank you so much for reading,
with so much love and light,

I completely agree with everything you said about Tiger King. It was so sad to see the tigers caged up and just being used to rake in money. And holy cow, can you even believe that people like Joe Exotic exist?? It was SO CRAZY to see that!
Gossip Girl is one of my favorite tv shows! I could literally watch it over and over and over!

I know it was horrible!! One of the worst things for me too was the horses and the snakes being used as drug imports! I mean it’s all awful but those two things stuck out to me as well! How could anyone treat animals this way!? I KNOW! Seriously I just can’t believe the show like it’s madness! Mind boggling. At least hopefully the show can raise awareness on how NOT to treat animals! And it will prompt people to help out and make a difference in a good way.
Yes Gossip Girl is the best my Mum and I watched it together but I think I’m gonna start it again soon! Who’s your fave character? I think mine would be Blair!

I absolutely love Jane the Virgin and The Vampire Diaries!! JTV gets so crazy but I love it, haha. Have you watched The Originals, the spin-off of TVP? In some cases, I find that it’s almost better than TVD! I tried watching Gossip Girl once but couldn’t get into it a few years ago, and same with You. I may try watching You again one day but it’s low on my list at the moment.
I’ve been watching Gilmore Girls and it’s so witty! It’s one of the my favorite shows as well.
It’s nice to read and see what you’ve been watching, Jennie! Hope you’re well, lovely ♥

Ah I am so excited to watch the rest! I just finished season 1 omg I’m so shocked at the ending!! Can’t wait to see what happens next! Question! Who do you ship Jane and Rafael or Jane and Michael? I think Michael is so handsome 😍😍
I have not seen The Originals yet but I need too! Especially if you say its almost better than TVD? Maybe I’ll put that on my watch list next!! Eek!! My friend likes The Originals too so I definitely want to watch it at some point! Now is the perfect time! Love a good binge watch haha!
Ooh! Interesting!! You is a good show but a little crazy! Not everyone’s cup of tea!
I watched Gilmore Girls when it was first on back in the day a little bit, but I’m not an avid watcher! I’ll have to add it to my list also! Are you going to watch the follow up show Netflix have done??
Thanks so much beauty!!!! I hope you’re well too, thanks for commenting ❤️

Yes, Jane the Virgin so good! I’m definitely team Michael! He was always my favorite in general, haha. Let me know how you feel about the series once you finish it! I thought The Originals had such a good storyline; I haven’t watched Legacies yet though. I’m trying not to because I hate shows ending on cliffhangers, so I usually wait until a series is finished to binge on it!
I watched A Year in the Life and I wasn’t impressed with it! It I’m going to rewatch it after I finish the series as a refresher and see if I feel any different about it!

Ahh I’m on S2 now, I NEED TO know what happens lol I think I saw a Michael spoiler by mistake though. I just really hope Jane ends up with Michael but I also can’t help but think Michael deserves better, if I was Rafael / Michael I would have taken myself out of the equation, however I get Jane’s whole life had gone crazy so I can understand her confusion and uncertainty. I feel sad for both Raf & Michael though however, I’m sure it all works out in the end (i hope Lol). I will do!! Ooh okay I might put TO on my list to watch next then, but I also have ‘too hot to handle’ and ‘never have I ever’ that I’ve got to watch soon. Oh I totally get you hun, the worst is having to wait months for the new season to come out. Is Legacies part of TVD then?
Ooh okay, hopefully it’ll be better the second time around!

Aw, I’ll try not to spoil anything for you, but I couldn’t even imagine being in Jane’s situation! It’s a crazy genius plot and I love how they turned it into a telenovela style drama! Rogelio is so funny. I think things work out decently, but it’s such a bombshell on how!
I’m kind of interested in Never Have I Ever since it popped up but I haven’t looked it up yet! I’m already on my toes waiting for Dark to release this year, haha. That is by far one of my favorite shows. Legacies is more of a spin-off of The Originals but I’m pretty sure Alaric and Matt are in it! Maybe a few other characters too.
Glad you’re enjoying Jane the Virgin though most of all! 🙂

This list is EVERYTHING! Such great recommendations. I watched Gossip Girl a loooong time ago, but have thought about watching it over again. I don’t usually watch shows twice, but if I do I think that’d be the one. Thanks for the awesome recs, Jennie! xoxo

I’ve never seen Jane the virgin nor have I given it a shot. I know myself and it doesnt seem like the kind of show I’d enjoy or get into fully. Same with Tiger King. 🙄 still haven’t watched and don’t plan on it either lol.
I tried watching the good place a few months ago but I found the first episode a bit boring so I just took it off and didn’t try again lol
As for stranger things and you, I absolutely loved both shows! Omg I was hooked with You and ended up binge watching both seasons lol. I also ended up reading the first book too, so twisted.
The other shows I havent come across but may look into them when I get the chance 🤗 thanks for sharing your recommendations with us!!

Ahh that’s fair enough hun, personally I’m obsessed and knowing me I’m like ‘everyone needs to watch this’ lol but if it’s not your thing it’s not your thing!! there’s no point watching it if you know you won’t enjoy it and there’s nothing better than knowing yourself. Don’t know why I’m getting so deep over a tv show talk but still haha. Tiger King I wasn’t going to watch either, it’s definitely not everyone’s cup of tea though.
Ah The Good Place I loved right off from the first episode, we obvs have very different taste in shows LOL.
I KNEW you’d love Stranger Things, there we have some similarities lol. Ah I don’t know if I can read the book lol the show was enough for me? It’s so darrrrrkk and I feel like the book will be even more intense right? Glad you enjoyed though.
You may like Dead To Me then if you like ‘YOU’ which omg reminds me it’s back today. AH time to go bombard my Mum to binge it with me haha.
Thanks so much for commenting lovely, I love your thoughts ❤

LOL no I get it, I’m the same way. I always gush about my fave tv shows too to other people like “you simply must watch it or at least give it a try”. So since I need to do as I preach, perhaps I will give it a shot 😉
I literally watched Stranger Things when it was initially released and I’ve followed through with each season as it came out ;D I cannot wait to watch the 4th!!!!
The book is actually not so bad. well in my opinion, I am a dark and twisty person though LMAO
