My Current Makeup Collection | Eye Edition September 2020

Hello, sweet Angels and welcome back to my blog.

It’s beauty / makeup time. Woohoo!!

At the beginning of this year, I began sharing with you a peek into my beauty collection, starting with my skincare collection then leading into my face makeup collection.

Today, I am here to share with you the products in my eye makeup collection, that’s everything from Mascara’s to eyeliners to glitters… there’ll be a whole separate post coming for palettes which when it comes to reviewing, I’m quite looking forward to. I have SO many palettes, I can’t wait to share with you my thoughts on them, but first – everything else for the eyes.

Let’s jump in!

NYX HD Studio Photogenic Eyeshadow Base

I love NYX products because they have a fantastic price point and 9 times out of 10, the products are fantastic. I used to use the NYX Proof It eyeshadow primer (more on that later in the post), but when I went to purchase a new one the lovely lady from NYX recommended this one to me instead. Now, I do like this product but the more I think about it, the more I’m not sure. It’s not 100% perfect, so whilst it still does the job, you really have to apply the product to the eye and pat it in thoroughly for it to be most effective. It does hold my eyeshadow in place and prevent creasing, but it’s not a stand out ‘wow’ product for me. Having said that though, it does its job and is a great price for all. I would definitely recommend if you’re looking for a ‘drugstore’ eyeshadow primer and bonus, NYX is Cruelty Free!

Would I purchase again? – YES

NYX Glitter Primer

Okay, this is a product I’ve definitely owned a few of in my life time. If you want your glitter to stay packed on and perfectly in place, you need this glitter primer. It has your sparkly glitter makeup looking fresh, full, sparkling and virtually flawless, without this primer the glitter does not pack on properly or stay in place – it’s more sparse. With the primer, voila! Chef’s kiss, you’ve got the ultimate glitter makeup look. 10/10 100% recommend. This is a staple in my collection – I actually need to get a new one asap, as this is soon to be running out!

Would I purchase again? – Most DEFINITELY!

L’Oréal Flash Cat Eye Liner

This is a pen style liquid liner for that dramatic winged / cat look – basically any black liner look for the top lash line. I don’t know what that fancy lid is for when it comes to the packaging, I think it’s supposed to help you create your perfect cat eye but I just do it free hand. I really like the style of this liner and think it’s good quality, though as with most pen liners I’ve tried, I did experience a little splaying on the ‘brush’ with this one also. However, still a great product. I’d probably buy this again however as a brand L’Oréal aren’t Cruelty Free, so I’d maybe look for other alternatives first (the NYX Epic Ink liner is a similar one that is cruelty free).

Would I purchase again? – Potentially / See above.

White Pencil Eyeliner

I’m actually not going to share the photo I took of this one because it’s beyond rough, I’ve had this for goodness knows how long but it’s part of my collection so got to be shared. I don’t even know where it’s from, possibly L’Oréal but I’m not 100% sure and the writing has all rubbed off lol. Oh well, I like having a white liner in my collection, it’s great for the waterline and when it comes to creating looks.

Would I purchase again? – I mean, I don’t even know where this one specifically is from but I’d definitely purchase a white pencil liner again.

Max Factor Kohl Black Pencil Liner

Another staple, you’ve just got to have a black kohl for the waterline haven’t you? This ones pretty decent, quite strong and has a nice price point. You can’t go wrong really!

Would I purchase again? – I think this is a great product and great value for money (this pencil has lasted me ages) however Max Factor are not a cruelty free brand so I’d probably look elsewhere next time I purchase a Kohl pencil!

NYX Proof It Waterproof Eyeshadow Primer

Here’s the other NYX eyeshadow primer I mentioned! I actually forgot this was waterproof. I’ve not used this one in a while as like I said, it’s almost run out but I was willing to repurchase it before so it must be good. I think going forward, when the Studio Photogenic primer runs out I’ll potentially try this one again, just to compare the difference and see which I prefer. However, you just can’t beat the Urban Decay eyeshadow priming potion can you? Although I haven’t used that in a while either, so I’d have to give that one another go before declaring a fave ;).

Would I repurchase? – Yes!

NYX On The Rise Volume Liftscara

I remember when I first tried this mascara being really impressed with it – as you can see from this screenshot from my Instagram stories…

I’ve had this mascara a while now and I still like it, though it’s not performing at its freshest obvs because I’ve had it so long. I’d definitely consider buying again though, however there are still other mascaras I would like to try first.

Would I purchase again? – Sure

L’Oréal Mega Volume Miss BabyRoll Mascara Waterproof

My lovely friend Dannii actually gave me this mascara, right when I was needing a new one too hehe. I haven’t worn it in a while actually, but I remember liking it when I first tried it. I don’t think I’ve used it enough to comment on it too much really, I don’t remember it having any ‘wow’ factor, but it’s still good.

Would I purchase again? – No. This is a good mascara, but not my favourite (Still, I am so grateful to Dannii for giving this to me as it totally serves me well, hehe).

Marc Jacobs Liner

Okay listen, I can’t actually remember the name of this product, I’ve looked on the Marc Jacobs website and I think it might be the ‘Highliner’ but I’m just not sure and I’ve sadly had to bin this now (still had to include it in the post though as it was on the verge of being finished when I took these photos hehe). This is a red pencil liner, retractable so you don’t have to sharpen and oh I just loved this product. The colour even had a little bit of a sparkle in it, and I always loved wearing it as it really made my eyes pop, giving them a really cool intensity. I even used to wear this liner on my lips too, which is where I really noticed the sparkle. I have so much love for this product, I would definitely purchase again if I could find the shade, but I’d even try these liners in different shades too. I probably wouldn’t buy the staple black shade or anything because quality wise, I can get a black pencil from any brand, but in terms of the fun, groovy colours, especially this red, then I love!

Would I purchase again? – Yes!

NYX Midnight Chaos Liquid Liners

Can you tell NYX is one of my go-to brands? Lol. This is a duo liner with one liquid black, and one liquid deep purple shade you typically would apply over the black for a really magnetic (I guess?) look. If I’m honest, I don’t love this product and rarely use it, it’s more there if I don’t have my typical black pen liner to hand / if I’ve run out of my everyday liner. I find the application with this one quite rusty as it’s freehand liquid with a brush applicator as opposed to a pen, and I definitely prefer a pen. In terms of the product quality, I don’t really think the desired effect is achieved too well for me, and it’s just kind of hard to use.

Would I purchase again? – No.

Eyelure Enchanted Written In The Stars Lashes

I do love a false lash, and this style is absolutely one of my favourites. They’re pretty, effective and… good? I mean, what else is there to say about false lashes really. I’m not going to say they’re super easy to apply because I mean, are ANY falsies easy to apply? I just like these ones and the finish / effect they give.

Would I purchase again? – Yes

NYX Glitter Brilliants

I have a small collection of these glitters from the wonderful NYX, overall as a product they’re super pretty however the quality isn’t that great as the glitter pigment doesn’t always come out of the little ‘tub’ it’s in so easily. Sometimes, I really have to shake / jiggle these about in order to catch any product. I have them in three different colours, a Red and Teal which I rarely use, and a pretty silver which I use occasionally!

Would I purchase again? – Staple colours such as the silver, potentially, however for a collection I’d look elsewhere for other colours!

Kryolan Glitters

I have a few glitters from the Kryolan brand, and one of these I virtually use everyday hehe. I LOVE the style / packaging of these glitters because they are SO easy to use, I can just dip my brush right in and pick up plenty of product / however much I need. That’s what I love about these glitters. I have three colours from this range and similar to the NYX brilliants, I only use one of them religiously – that being the gold. The green and pink shades I find don’t give off the most pleasing finish, almost looking a bit dirty / gritty sometimes as opposed to looking glitz and glam (Though my swatch of the pink actually has me looking at it in a different way, maybe I’ll give it more of a try). The gold however… chefs kiss! SO good.

Green –

Gold –

Pink –

Would I purchase again? – The gold, most definitely but the other two colours, I’m not sure. I don’t think I’d get the green again, but like I said I’d have to give the pink more of a chance, and I’m definitely interested in trying more shades / colours from the range.

NYX Roller Glitters

These are really cute, easy to use shimmers which unfortunately I don’t believe NYX sell anymore 😦 This is such a shame as they are so easy to use and perfect for an everyday, 5 minute makeup look. I actually rarely use these because I forget I have them, then on the odd occasion I do remember I’m thinking, ‘why don’t I use these more’? They’re super cute, and again I have three shades in these glitters. Green, Blue and White. I don’t use the green as much as I use the blue or white, I have a feeling these will be being used more in the lead up to Christmas.

Green –

Blue –

White –

Would I purchase again? – If they were still available, then yes

Dior Matte Pink Pen Liner

I’ve had this liner for years now, but I rarely use it. When Dior first released their colour liner range, I was instantly hooked, I bought a yellow, a blue and of course this pink. Unfortunately, whilst the potential was there, the pay off was not. As I mentioned, I rarely use this pink liner, it’s not as vibrant as I’d like it to be and I think that with the promise this range had, the quality could have done with being improved quite a lot. Not as vibrant or bright as I’d have liked.

Would I purchase again? – No

NYX Slide On Glide On Waterproof Liner in the Shade Azure

This is the second time I’ve bought this pencil liner, I love a colour and this blue is great for all things creative – I’d probably use it on my lips too in the future. I’ve not actually used this product in a while, but I really like it and think it’s beneficial to have in my collection, great for the creativity 😉

Would I purchase again – Sure!

Clinique High Impact Mascara

I have a couple miniature versions of this mascara thanks to my previous job, and having never used this mascara before, when I tried it I was definitely impressed. Since I’ve had this mascara a while now and I don’t use it everyday I can’t really comment too much on it, but I do remember being impressed when I first tried it, this mascara is very popular within the Clinique brand and I know when I tried it, I could understand why (though personally whilst I was impressed, I wasn’t ‘wowed’!)

Would I purchase again? – Most likely not. There are other mascaras out there that I prefer, besides, this brand isn’t Cruelty Free!

NYX White Liquid Liner

I bought this white liquid liner a few months ago now when we were just easing out of lockdown as I wanted to have more products to use to create cool fun makeup looks. I figured a white liner was pretty much a necessity when it came to that. I haven’t created many (if any) ‘fun’ looks with this yet, however I have still used it as a liner, as mentioned in my ‘6 Minutes Vs 60 Minutes Makeup Challenge with Rossy– read here! – As a liner, whilst I think it’s fun, being that it’s a liquid liner with brush applicator, it’s not the easiest for me to get on with. Also, I definitely prefer a black liner in my everyday life, I bought this white one really only for more creative looks, not necessarily to wear out.

Would I purchase again? – Maybe

GWA Eyelashes ‘Mermaid’ Style

These lashes are from Primark, GWA is a brand I quite often buy my lashes from. They’re so well priced it’s easy to just pick them up whenever I venture into Primark. As I mentioned before, there’s not a lot I can say about lashes… these do be cute though!

Would I purchase again? – Definitely

  1. NYX is one brand I haven’t tried a lot from. A couple of years ago you’d see it everywhere but the hype has quietened down a little. Is the glitter primer only good for glitter or would it work for regular shimmer shadows as well?

    1. Ooh that’s so interesting to me since it’s one of my go to’s 😂 i would say the glitter primer is only really for glitter pigment as opposed to shimmer shadows! You could try it but I remember my friend who worked for NYX saying it was a no go so personally, I would use the glitter primer only for glitter pigment! X
